Lesson Content

I am excited to be able to teach and mentor guitar players at any level to give them the facility and understanding necessary to fulfill his/her goals. Regardless of where you live, you can sign up for one-on-one guitar lessons with me each week, using your own equipment, from the comfort of your own home. All you need is a high speed Internet connection and a web camera.

I specialize in a range of guitar techniques including:
- Alternate Picking
- Sweep Picking
- Hybrid Picking
- Hammer-ons/Pull-offs
- Hammer-ons-from-nowhere
- Tapping (with and without pick)

I also teach:
- Ear Training
- Harmony
- Tab/Standard Notation Reading
- Practice Routines
- Rhythm/Meter
- Improvisational/Compositional Concepts

I offer my virtual guitar lessons using the web-based video platform called ooVoo. Most newer laptops sold today already have built-in video capability. If your computer does not have a built in webcam, I recommend the Logitech Webcam C250 (available at most office supply stores for about $25).

There are a few things that I need you to do to prepare in advance for our first virtual lesson:
1. Fill out what you want to work on in the “Lesson Plan” Box of Submission page.
2. Make sure you are familiar with the equipment: check you camera placement, volume and computer settings before we start our session.
3. Make sure the lighting in the room you are in will allow me to see you and your instrument.
4. Avoid excessive moving around and relax – try to be as natural as possible. Moving around may create audio distortions.
5. Bandwidth issues can occur from time to time and if for whatever reason we get disconnected – I will call you back to re-connect.
6. Turn OFF your cell phone or PDA so we can both stay focused on each session.
7. Schedule 15-20 minutes to do a sound and video check with me prior to the lesson to make sure your equipment is working optimally.
I’m looking forward to meeting you virtually and working with you to help you reach your goals!
